This Supernatural Story

The acclaimed director challenges his creative boundaries in this innovative ghostly tale shot entirely through the eyes of a ghost. As a family with Lucy Liu as Rebekah and her distressed teen Chloe moves into their fresh home, the filming device – AKA the Presence – follows them around. The Black Phone Horror

Scott Derrickson's contained scarefest stands strong despite the lack of a follow-up. Set in 1970s Colorado, several child abductions has left the local kids anxious. This Dramatic Portrait

In the conflict between God and Mammon, it's a knockout win for greed in Michael Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top film adaptation regarding the shamed televangelist plus her lawbreaking partner. Andrew Garfield acts as the greedy Jim, who proclaims initially, asserting religious justification for riches. The couple begin monetising the people's religious faith. It's a riot of tacky decor, excessive cosmetics and hypocrisy, however the lead actress achieves to present the real-life figure with compassion. October 14th, 1.15am, the Film4 channel
